The Reverend Amelie Allen Wilmer
It is with great excitement that All Souls Episcopal Church announces that the Reverend Amelie Allen Wilmer will become vicar, starting her new ministry at the end of December. Ms. Wilmer brings with her many talents and skills that will enhance the All Souls community. She is a demonstrated leader, enthusiastic teacher, gifted preacher, and will be a faithful pastor to our congregation.
Ms. Wilmer received her certificate in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary and her Masters of Divinity from Union PSCE, where she graduated with honors. She was ordained to the priesthood on December 10, 2011, at St. Stephen's Church. Ms. Wilmer also holds degrees in Economics/Political Science and Art History from Yale University. In addition to previous careers in banking, the Reverend Wilmer is a past president of the Junior League of Richmond, former chair of the Carver Promise, and graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond. While in seminary, she served as an intern at Christ Ascension Episcopal Church, Richmond, and St. Thomas', Richmond. She also served as a chaplain at Johnston-Willis hospital.
Previous to coming to All Souls, the Reverend Wilmer served as a Deacon-in-Residence both at St. John’s and St. Mary’s in Richmond, and as chaplain at Westminster-Canterbury
A life-long Episcopalian, the Reverend Wilmer has completed both DOCC (Disciples of Christ in Community) and EFM (Educators for Ministry), and as a lay person served in a broad range of ministries, including family fellowship and outreach programs, adult and youth education, stewardship and strategic planning.
The Reverend Wilmer has three sons: one in college and two in high school, and she and her family enjoy skiing, hiking, travel, art, and literature. She resides in Richmond.
