COMMUNITY GARDEN:

Our garden season is March through November.  During that time we need volunteers to till, plant, pick, weed, wash veggies, package and weigh produce, and deliver to food banks.  Your assistance is welcomed at ANY TIME for ANY TASK.

Especially needed are delivers to food banks in July through September.  If you could provide this service, please indicate that on the volunteer page.

We always need seed and plant contributions as well as money for compost, fertilizer, pest control, and watering expenses.

A schedule for garden work is published on the calendar, and of course, is dependent on the growing season.  Please check the calendar for regular garden hours, but on most days, someone is in the garden in the mornings.

WINTERIZATION PROJECT:

We need help in going around businesses and asking for donations of plastic and insulation.

Major items for home winterization are:

  • Heavy duty Plastic sheeting
  • Staples for staple guns
  • Duck tape
  • Contractor plastic bags
  • Financial contributions for Thanksgiving meals
  • Bottled water

OTHER MISSIONS:

All Souls members are involved in a variety of missions in our community.  Some missions have specific needs at different times during the year.  You will see ads on the home page advertising those needs.   Some of activities we support are:

J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School – lunch buddies and mentors, Fall school supply fund raiser, underwear drive

Peter-Paul Development Center- Halloween Party with a full lunch and activities of games, pumpkin decorating, and arts and crafts.  In addition to the Halloween Party, we donated 600 take home meals for students during the Christmas holidays to assist with their nutrition.  And we provided 18 bags of groceries to be distributed to families during the same time.

CARITAS We assist St. Anne’s Catholic Church and St James the Less in Ashland and other churches by providing dinner, lunch and breakfast for 40 adult guests.  Serving food and visiting with these wonderful people is a gift to us all!

Blessing of the Animals close to the Feast of St. Francis in October. A fun event for the entire community, usually held at Rutland Shopping Center at 2 pm on the first Sunday in October.
